Cody's Arm cont. and Derby up date

About a week ago Cody went to the doctor for his arm. They removed the cast and gave him a brace that gives him a little more mobility. The doctor said since his brake is so close to his wrist that he has to keep moving the wrist or the entire area would fuse itself solid. They are going to continue to monitor how it heals. I will keep you posted.

The boys raced their cars last night and Jacob lost both of his races but Ethan won the first time but lost the second. However, we video taped the races and it was pretty apparent that Jacob won his second race. It was just peace to his little heart knowing that he had won. If I can figure it out I will post some video.

Thrifty Thursday...

I spent this morning at the grocery store which I do every Thursday. It is just my day. SO I thought that I would share some of the ways I save money or a good buy I got. The best deal I have gotten lately was free. I got a stainless steel kitchen sink out of one of my neighbors trash for free. It is in good condition and I have wanted one for quite a while. Plus I saved more that $100!! It has deeper basins than the sink I have now so it is Awesome! I just love to find free things. My hubby hates that I dig in our neighbors trash but it feels like hunting for gold to me. A couple of months ago I found a solid wood bunk bed. It has been a good year for dumpster diving!

For something a little less grungy, get online with your favorite stores and sign up for their email list. Then every week you will receive the sale add so you can preview before you shop! I love Old Navy and Hobby Lobby!

Pinewood derby and Build A Bear

Tonight Jake and Little E are in the boyscouts pinewood derby races. They received their kits about a week ago and have been working hard the last few day to get them finished. Scot and the boys spent last night painting them and tonight we are going to add the wheel and weights. They should weigh 5 oz. Right now they only weigh about 2oz.

I had to go to Hobby Lobby to get the weights for the cars. Which was really nice because I have been wanting to go there lately but have not had a chance. So I took the big kids to school and then Caleb to preschool then it was just me and my baby girl. We had lots of fun. She picked up everything and said pripry (pretty). She was well behaved and adorable. We looked at everything on our way to the model section they were having a sale on scrap book stuff and I was drawn to it. I am not very crafty but it does look like fun. I picked up some of that stretchy string that you make necklaces with for Mequell. Everyone we bumped into was nice. It was just the perfect Hobby Lobby day.

Mequell recently had a birthday. She wanted to go to Build A Bear Workshop. So we agreed and on the Friday after her birthday, she got to skip school and go to the mall. It was a preschool day so it was just the girls. It was so fun! It was our first time and so we asked for help. The ladies there were so helpful. Mequell picked a bunny to stuff and love. Then she stuffed it, filled it, fluffed it and dressed it in a lovely white and blue fairy winged dress. My baby girl loved that all the accessories fit her little face. She spent most of the time wearing different pairs of sunglasses. Mequell did an awesome job deciding exactly what she wanted. The best day at the mall I have had in a long time. It was amazing to just be out with my girls.

Hope you are all doing great!

One down

Well I turned in my take home test and it was a disaster!! My prof said it should only take about 2 hours. Well it took me more than 4! I still could not figure out 2 of questions and there were only 15 total. I should be ok because all of my other scores have been high. Just extra stress to keep us on our toes.

I have been doing alot of deep soul searching. I am always trying to grow in possitive directions. I think alot on my parenting skills and how can I improve. Do I do enough service to my friends and neighbors? Am I being a good friend to those I have? Am I doing my church calling as well as I should? Do I try hard enough to follow the commandments of God? Do I pray enough? How can I squeeze in one more day of exercise? Do I talk to much or not enough? Is it possible for me to be the homeroom mom, fulltime mom and full time student at the same time? Maybe it is all just.....too much. Maybe I do to much or not enough?!

I don't know may be I am going through a mid life crisis.

I know that we all have a reason and a season for the good and positive things in life. I just pray that I am not to busy to miss them!!

I got a really good quote today and want to share it!

President Joseph F. Smith said:

"You can't force your boys, nor your girls, into Heaven. You may force them to hell by using harsh means in the efforts to make them good when you, yourselves, are not as good as you should be. The man that will be angry at his boy, and try to correct him while he is in anger, is in the greatest fault; he is more to be pitied and more to be condemned than the child who has done wrong. You can only correct your children by love, in kindness, by love unfeigned, by persuasion, and reason." (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph F. Smith, p. 253-254).

What the heck...

...has happened to the weather it has been beautiful with some highs hitting the 80's and just this past friday it was snowing?! I guess you never know what to expect.

Everything is going good. I can feel the pressure of the school year wrapping up. Last night got my first take home test in calculus, yikes. There is only about three weeks left of school and two more test before I'm finished. Calculus is not bad alittle confusing but my instructor always answers any questions. I have been hurrying to get my financial aid paperwork turned in for the fall/spring semesters. I know the school year is almost over but there is just so much you have to do to be ready for the next year.

Scot is loving his new job!! He really likes where he is at and who he works with. What a blessing! The stress level is alot lower, it is just good all around. He is also planning on going turkey hunting this weekend.

I took my two little ones to get shots today. Which I always dread. I know it is painful for them but it causes me to be an emotional wreck. Thank heaven for the combo-vac's that way they get only one or two shots insted of FIVE. They were both so brave not even a tear!! For the past two hour though my baby girl has cried that her leg hurts. :-( Poor little angel.

Cody got his drivers permit last month. SO now he can drive himself to school and work.(when he gets a job) He is already looking for a car or something to drive.

We had a nice Easter! We hunted lots of eggs and ate way to much!!!
The kids had fun playing with cousins.

Spring has arrived!

The weather is absolutely beautiful! We have had to start mowing our lawn. We have been working on tackling those pesky weeds and seem to be winning! I have started turning over the soil in the garden getting it ready for planting. It is fun just to dig in the dirt once in a while. The kids helped me plant the starters in doors and now they are read to be outside.

We have been spending alot of time outside so we have had a chance to get to know our neighbors again! We are so lucky to have awesome neighbors who watch out for our kids. We live on a street where most of our neighbors are older and their kids are grown. But a hand full have kids the same ages as ours.

The kids are getting excited about easter. Mequell has an easter egg hunt today at school. Ethan has one on Thursday but he said that he thinks he is just to old now to hunt eggs. Ha Ha Ha!

Don't forget to take a moment to smell the flowers!
Love to all!
